A gentle practice that teaches us to relax and accept ourselves exactly as we are; the practice calms the mind and mends the body. Poses can be supported with props and participants ease into the full expression of the pose as allowed by their bodies. Great for deep physical and emotional healing and relaxation.
ADAPTIVE or CHAIR YOGA
Adaptive yoga is ideal for those who are less active, in rehabilitation or physically challenged and for those who are unable to get down on the floor or unable to get on their knees. It can also be effective for travelers, the desk-bound, truckers or golfers.

*“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally.” (Jon Kabat-Zinn) Yoga promotes a state of mindfulness, a state in which we are willing to let go of the filters that our mind puts between us and our experiences. Mindfulness yoga promotes an awareness that begins to allow us to accept the experiences of our present lives without judging each experience as good or bad. Mindfulness yoga promotes peace and equanimity and reduces stress and suffering.
DESCRIPTION OF OTHER CLASSES AT THE STUDIO
There is a separate fee for all the following programs.
TAI CHI MOVING FOR BETTER BALANCE
This program was delivered by Dr. Fuzhong Li of the Oregon Research Institute and consists of a core of eight forms and a subroutine of various therapeutic movements. The set of simple Tai Chi based actions are evidence-based and work to improve stability, resulting in fall prevention. The program is facilitated by Joann Bishop.
TAI CHI-Temporarily discontinued.
If you're looking for a way to reduce stress, consider tai chi (TIE-CHEE). Originally developed for self-defense, tai chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, tai chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements. Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Tai chi is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion.
REIKI TRAINING, LEVELS 1, 2, AND 3 with Master Teacher Neil Kagan
Reiki is a healing technique based on the principle of applying earthly energy into a person to activate the natural healing processes of one’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being while promoting relaxing and stress reduction. After the Initiate Level 1 Reiki training, you will be able to practice Reiki on yourself, friends, and pets. There is approximately a two-week interval between each level of Reiki training. In addition REIKI NIGHT is offered once a month, usually on the 4th Saturday of the month at 7:00pm. This evening event provides an opportunity to experience the balancing energy of Reiki and for participants to ask questions and participate in a discussion. Reiki practitioners are invited and encouraged to participate and share compassion, love, and the experience of giving and receiving brief Reiki sessions. This is a free event.
